Many people complain that they do not have enough time with their health care professionals (HCP). No matter how well-trained, able or amiable (s)he might be, a doctor, nurse practitioner or other HCP has limited time in which to perform a series of necessary tasks: greet, take a history, review recent symptoms and systems, do a physical exam, order tests, prescribe a treatment regimen, record the visit. How much time, then, is left for her or him to discuss with you the concerns and questions you might have? Not much. You might ask for another appointment to do just that, or hope that on your follow-up appointment there will be time. But often that's just not the case. Does that brochure they gave you really answer your questions? Most of us don't have a clue what our health care professional has said to us after we walk out of his or her office. Particularly when the news is not good, we tend to hear only the bad news and the rest never registers in our brains. Conferring---either in person or through the Internet--- with someone who has had years of experience in the health care field and who has recent experience in communicating and discussing health issues of high concern with individuals, communities, and science professionals is both reassuring and liberating. This is the service that Interpretive Consultations, Inc. provides.
