ENVSC 296: The Environment and Human Health-5 CR #3483 

Prerequisite: NONE

Join Chuck Treser of the UW's Department of Environmental Health and Doctor Sandy Rock of BCC's Science Division for a unique learning experience: The Environment and Human Health, ENVSC 296, the first jointly taught BCC/University of Washington course on the BCC Campus. Examine how environmental factors and conditions impact human health and well-being.  Students will have the opportunity to dig into the environmental and health implications of food and  drinking water supplies, air quality, residential, institutional, occupational and recreational environments, radiation, and many others.  Learn how such tools as epidemiology, toxicology, engineering and risk assessment combine with topics such as economics, law and regulation and politics to form our public policy with concern to the environment and health. 

Will meet BCC Winter Quarter (1/3/05-3/23/05), Mondays and Thursdays, 2:30-4:50 PM in Room L212 at Bellevue Community College. Developed and taught jointly with University of Washington Department of Environmental Health. We have designed and developed this course to encourage and assist students in matriculating into the UW's Environmental Health curriculum.
